well it depend on how tall is the person. if a 15 year old boy is like 5'8 or 5'6 i think is underweight. if you think you ar underweight eat more then. This BMI which is the Body Mass Index. That is calculated on the measure of body fat based on height and weight of men and women... This calculation says the BMI is 17.4 which for an adult would be under weight. But considering that this calculation is for a 15 year old I believe it's healthy Underweight= 18.5 Normal weight= 18.5 - 24.9 Overweight= 25-29.9 Obesity= BMI of 30 or greater BMI is calculated the same for teens and children as well as adults. Although the criteria used to interpret the meaning of the BMI number for children and teens are different from those used for adults. For children and teens, BMI age and sex specific precentiles are used for two reasons. The amount of body fat changes with age. The amount of body fat differs between girls and boys. For adults the BMI is interpreted through categories that do not take into account sex or age. My son (nearly 18) is 5'9" and weighs 110lbs, he looks very underweight but is very healthy and eats like a horse. He is a fidgeter, even when sitting playing a game he 'twitches' as though he is performing all the actions himself. I guess he has a very high metabolism. His older brother is also ver slim, he had Chronic Fatigue through his teens and didn't eat much. For the last six months he has been much better and has started working out with weights, we have noticed that he has started eating a lot of protein: chicken, fish etc. (for muscle growth). In the last month or so he has started aerobic exercise and has increased his carbohydrate intake (for the energy rquired) I am overweight and of the generation that was urged to clear our plates, I have tried to get my children to eat only what they require and it seems to have worked.
