Yes. If you visit the DMZ (or any South Korean city north of Seoul) between March and December, you cannot donate blood in the US for the following twelve months, for fear of malaria. Which is pretty crazy, seeing as the temperature at the DMZ was well below freezing during my December visit - I don't think there were too many mosquitos.
Source: I was just turned away at the blood bank, where I typically donate every eight weeks. They showed me the map of excluded regions and the regulations.
Yes, you have to wait 12 months after getting tattooed to give blood.
to keep blood banks full, so blood is on hand when needed. but more importantly if you are a blood donator you dont get charged for blood used if you ever are in need of some. true story

If you receive a blood transfusion, you are under no obligation to "return" (or "donate") any blood to back the blood bank. This is true both before and after receiving a blood transfusion - i.e you do not have to have donated blood previously, before you can have a transfusion. (At least, this is how it works in the UK). Nice to know, really.

One of them is true, you cant give blood for a full 12 months after getting inked. Not sure about the epidural though, shouldn't think it would matter.

I could be wrong but I don't think the blood type O-negative can be affected by HIV and AIDS because the infection cannot bind with the blood cells.
