Yes, nurses may practice Reiki under their FL license. The FL Board of Massage has jurisdiction over the practice of Reiki, and their ruling is that in order to charge for a session one must have a license to touch, i.e. massage therapist, nurse, doctor, etc. However, anyone can practice Reiki free of charge. Additionally, anyone may teach a Reiki class regardless of license for any charge amount the practitioner deems appropriate.
If you do not have a nursing license for the specific state you are not allowed to work as a registered nurse.
Yes you absolutely need a license to charge for energy work services in the state of Florida. I’m an LMT here in the state and have been in contact with the board about it many time because I’ve been seeing more metaphysical stores offering these services without proper licensing.

The IRS does not have the authority to suspend a person's nursing license. Nursing licenses are typically regulated by state nursing boards based on criteria set by state laws and regulations. However, unpaid taxes could potentially lead to professional license suspension if a state board has provisions allowing for such action.
A compact state is a state that recognizes your license and you do not have to get a new license in that state. Example: You get a license in Illinois to practice nursing, but now want to move to Michigan, which is not a compact state, you have to get licensed all over again in Michigan now. Hope that helped!

The State of Georgia does not currently regulate Reiki. In a few states including Florida, it is regulated by the state Board of Massage, which is seen by many Reiki practitioners as a device to force them into massage schools, considered ridiculous because Reiki involves only a light touch or even a hovering non-touch to focus "ki" power. The state Board of Massage in New York reversed their similar requirement after actually watching a Reiki session in a meeting.
In all States, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories, students must graduate from an approved nursing program and pass a national licensing examination, known as the National Council Licensure Examination, or NCLEX-RN, in order to obtain a nursing license. In Pennsylvania, there is no specific state license required to practice Reiki, as it is considered a complementary healing practice rather than a regulated healthcare profession. However, practitioners are encouraged to obtain training and certification from reputable Reiki organizations to ensure they are qualified. It is also advisable to adhere to any local regulations and maintain proper liability insurance if offering services to the public. Always check for any updates or changes in regulations that may affect practice.
