Distal Esophagitis is inflammation of the esophagus.

This can be caused by various reasons.

Gastroesophageal reflux (GER), infection, trauma and food allergy.

The affected portion of your esophagus is 5cm or about 2 inches.

This inflammation results from gastric acid, pepsin, trypsin and bile are regurgitated into the esophagus.

Symptomatic treatment for mild reflux is antacids, elevated head positioning when prone or sleeping and diet changes including changes to nighttime eating prior to sleeping.
