A cardiologist is either a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.). Both DOs and MDs are medical physicians and can practice as cardiologists after being board certified following a cardiology residency. This would take four years for The Bachelor's degree and four years of medical school. There will also be an additional three of more years to complete the internship and residency requirements.
