There are no simple home remedies for gout. Gout is a widespread illness and goes back into prehistory. If, in that time, a simple remedy for this condition had become available, all the doctors or drug manufacturers on earth would not be able to stop the word from getting out.

Despite the above, here are some home remedies that supposedly help:

  • Fruits: fresh cherries; bananas (don't overeat; this leads to constipation); strawberries; apples.
  • Drinking the following: lots of water; peppermint tea; and cherry juice.

To reduce the pain from the gout, apply ice on the painful area.

However as the theory goes, uric acid crystals are more likely to develop in the cooler areas of the body leading one to assume that the act of cooling the body would create a situation where more crystals can be developed.
