Some peoples' bodies have a very adverse reaction to cosmetic surgery, to a point where they end up in worse physical and mental condition than before they had the surgery. I think everyone should just be happy that they are alive and learn to live with their imperfections. After all, we ALL have them.

What Can You Expect When Your Loved One Needs Bypass Surgery?

Modern technology has made bypass surgery almost routine. Medical advancements have increased the success rate and made recovery time much shorter than it used to be just 10 or 20 years ago. However, bypass surgery is a major operation and comes with a good deal of risk. Complications can arise from the operation and patients do not always respond well to the surgery. Given the fact that the surgery can and usually is very demanding on the patient, one must not lose sight of the strain it can place on a spouse, family or other people close to the patient. Just what can you expect when your loved one goes in for bypass surgery? First of all, bypass surgery is very rarely done before the cardiologists and other doctors have had a chance to fully evaluate the patient. If there are other less invasive procedures such as angioplasty that can alleviate the blockages in the arteries that lead away from the heart, they must be given serious consideration. It may be two, three or more days before the patient is scheduled for bypass surgery. Bypass surgery involves rerouting the arteries to "bypass" the blockage or blockages. Without going into detail, the patient is hooked up to IVs and has numerous tubes going into his body. Machines may be used to help the patient breath and the surgery involves slicing open the patient's chest. The operation can take a number of hours depending on the complexity of the individual case. Some people only need a single bypass, while others may need a double, triple or even quadruple bypass. Once the surgery is over, the patient will be very closely monitored as he starts to recover. When you come to visit, your loved one will still have a number of tubes, oxygen and IVs in his or her body and it may be quite disturbing to see them that way. Fortunately, recovery does not take too long. In a day or so, most of the tubes will be removed and the patient will be encouraged to get up, sit in a chair and maybe walk around a little. The biggest concern is that the patient will be very weak and get tired very easily. They may not want to eat and they may be quite cranky. Considering what they have been through, it is easy to understand. Once your loved one is well enough to go home, they will need some help doing the basic chores around the house. Although you may want to do everything possible to help them, it is important to encourage them to start doing things on their own, even if they complain that they can not do it. Have patience and in time, your loved one will be almost as good as new.

What does central right paramedian disk herniation which appears to flatten the adjacent spinal cord mean?

It means that in the center and right side of the spinal cord there is pressure being applied by a herniated disk. It means surgery will probably be necessary to fix whatever problems that pressure is causing. It means a doctor or nurse somewhere needs to be contacted and told their patient or a patient's loved one has questions.

Do you have to disclose when you have had cosmetic surgery when taking out a life insurance policy?

Some might quibble as to the "phrasing" of the question on the life insurance application. Let me assure you that you do not want to split hairs on it. If the question is, "Have you ever had surgery?", then the answer is "yes", you have had surgery. You are perfectly free to explain it to the company, and they may not even mind, and it may not even affect your rates. However, if you don't admit to it, and they find out later when it comes time to paying out on the policy, your loved ones may not get paid. And insurance companies ALWAYS fnd out the truth. They keep digging till they do. Don't pay on a policy that will be invalidated for a lie later. Be honest now.

Why are dying patient's in a hospital bed moved next to the window?

In a semi-private room, it may provide for more privacy (the family of the roommate does not have to "pass by" the dying patient to get to their loved one). In a private room, I have no idea why this would be done! I have heard of opening windows to let the patient's "spirit out" (a Native American custom), but I have never heard of moving a dying patient closer to the window in a private room.

Can a patient date her doctor under certain circumstances it would be mutual the patient is not vulnerable in the situation etc and how could that be accomplished?

You didn't mention if your doctor loved you as well. It is against the law for a doctor to have a love interest in his patient. If you both have a relationship going then I suggest you find another doctor if you wish to pursue this man.
