When will a V wave be seen on the normal EKG tracing?

Yes, a V wave will be seen on a normal EKG tracing. A V wave can signal a lot of things in an EKG, but what it means will be up to the person reading the EKG and the person's reason for the EKG.

What is the medical term meaning Deflection on an EKG tracing caused by electrical activity other than from the heart?

The medical term for deflection on an EKG tracing caused by electrical activity other than from the heart is "artifact." This can be due to various external factors interfering with the EKG signal, such as patient movement, improper electrode placement, or electrical interference. It is important to recognize and address artifacts to obtain an accurate EKG interpretation.

What is r t segment?

The R-T segment is the portion of the EKG tracing from the R wave to the T wave.

What positions should you place the patient in to record the tracing EKG?

To record an EKG tracing, the patient should be positioned comfortably in a supine position, lying flat on their back. This position helps reduce muscle movement and provides a clear view of the heart's electrical activity. If the patient is unable to lie flat, a semi-Fowler's position (sitting at a 30- to 45-degree angle) may be acceptable. It's essential to ensure that the patient remains relaxed to minimize artifacts in the EKG tracing.

What is ventricle depolarization?

Type your answer here... abnormally slow depolarization of the ventricles would most change the shape of the ?in an ekg tracing

What is an r-r calucation in the heartbeat?

An r-r calculation is performed on an EKG tracing. It is the distance from one R wave to the next.

What information does a cardiac monitor register?

the cardiac electrocardiogram (EKG) tracing. Additional monitoring components allow cardiovascular pressures and cardiac output to be monitored

How many boxes in a ekg millivolt?

In an EKG (electrocardiogram) tracing, one small box typically represents 0.1 mV (millivolts) vertically. Each large box, which consists of 5 small boxes, represents 0.5 mV. Therefore, to measure voltage in millivolts on an EKG, you can count the number of small boxes and multiply by 0.1 mV.

What is another name for an ECG?

Does an EKG tech know much about what they're seeing?

I am an EKG technician. I can tell you, that while we do learn different patterns that may show up in the tracing, and irregularities to look out for, we are not the doctor. No matter what we see, we need to take the tracing to the doctor to examine and he will look at it and then tell the patient if he sees any problems. So, while we may know if something is wrong..it doesn't matter. We won't be the ones to tell you. We go to school to learn about the EKG machine, the way it works, the electrode placement, how to talk to the patient and run the EKG on them. It's a very good, professional and meaningful job. It's just not our place to discuss it with the patient. You can't graduate from an EKG program without learning some of the major irregularities. You learn all about the QRS complex and p waves and what they mean.
