If the wound bleeds through the emergency bandage, do not remove the bandage. Instead, apply additional dressings over the existing bandage and apply gentle pressure to control the bleeding. If the bleeding persists, continue adding layers without removing the original bandage and seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Place a new emergency bandage over the top of the existing bandage
If your horse is bleeding through a bandage, you should leave it in place and apply another layer of bandage materials. Then call your veterinarian to discuss what is going on.
If a wound bleeds through during an emergency session, first apply direct pressure with a clean cloth or bandage to control the bleeding. If blood soaks through, do not remove the initial bandage; instead, add more layers on top and continue applying pressure. If the bleeding does not stop or worsens, seek medical assistance immediately. Keep the injured area elevated if possible to help reduce blood flow.
Place a new emergency bandage over the top of the existing bandage. At first, adding more fresh bandages on top will help. But you would want to replace the blood-soaked bandages with fresh bandages as soon as possible, and re-apply direct pressure to the wound. Work toward preventing physical shock if possible, and get your victim to a professional- immediately.
