You need a Doctorate degree to be able to practice as a Dermatologist. All Universities have different degree programs. You'll need to have a strong background in math and science throughout high school, attend a four-year college (preferably with a pre-med program), attend a medical school for another 4 years, and about 5 more years in a residency, preferably with another dermatologist. Having a double major in your pre-med program in something else related to business, math, or health will help make you more appealing to medical schools. The type of training and education that is needed to be a dermatologist consists of medical college, you can go two to four years to be a good dermatologist. If you want to spend your whole life on dermatology then I would recommend you to be in school for four to eight years. == ==

A dermatologist is a medical physician with a specialty in dermatology. Thus, a medical degree such as the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) or Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) is required to be a dermatologist as well as appropriate medical residency training.

Dermatology is a one of the fields or sub-divisions in medical studies. In order to be a dermatologist, a doctor needs to specialize in this particular field. After completing the MBBS, the doctor has to get another degree that is a specialization in dermatology and then one becomes a dermatologist. This higher education is the training that you need to have for dermatology.
