Hematology
when a doctor orders an ESR he usually also orders a complete blood count CBC. but it is a different test.
Laboratory tests are useful in identifying headaches caused by infections, anemia , or thyroid disease. These tests include a complete blood count (CBC); erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR); and blood serum chemistry profile.
CBC and ESR can be run off of a EDTA tube. CMP and VANC may require two separate tubes depending on hospital policy. CMP is usually run off of a green top (Lithium Heparin) tube and I'm not sure on the VANC tube.

No you do not. I am answering as a laboratory technician of 15 years.
A CBC (complete blood count) is typically sent to the hematology department of a laboratory for analysis. This department specializes in studying blood cells and related disorders.
A complete blood count (CBC), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C protein, rheumatoid factor (RF), and antinuclear antibody (ANA) may be done for patients with suspected rheumatoid arthritis (RA). CBC may show anemia; ESR and C protein may be elevated as a reflection of the inflammatory aspect of the disease. RF is present in 70% of RA patients, and ANA is present in 30%; the latter two reflect the autoimmune component of the disease.
Normal ranges on blood tests depends on the laboratory that draws the blood.
WBC; White Bloodcell Count. ESR; Erytrocyt Sedimentation Rate CRP; C-Reactive Protein
CBC stands for many things for example Complete Blood Count, a medical laboratory test of your blood, and Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and many more. See the related links for more information.
