Swelling after surgery is quite common. Any surgery on the hand requires the hand to be elevated in a sling otherwise you may get some swelling.
Loss of lymph nodes from surgery on the affected side often causes poor drainage from the arm on that side. This is why there can be hand and arm swelling.
Your hand may feel swollen for many reasons. Allergies is a common one, which may be caused by a bee sting. If you had hit your hand fairly hard, that could also be the reason why your hand is swollen.

That's typical. A wasp sting on the hand will take 3-4 days for the hand to return to a semblance of normal - I speak from experience.

Usually, ice. It might depend on why it's swollen, though. If it is swollen from a sting or an allergic reaction, an ointment would be better.
