Not all STD's are routinely tested for by a blood test. A complete examine should have included urine samples (some physicians still use cultures so they may have opted for swabbing the genitals instead).
Even so, some diseases may not show up on the test immediately. This is especially true of syphilis which requires 7 to 10 days from the appearance of the first symptom ( a painless lesion, often on the genitals, called a chancre) to the time in which the serological (blood) test will be positive.

If one is Rh negative and the other RH h positive I think it has something to do with the babies in the womb being possibly rejected by the Mothers body as a "foreign body".
