If you are talking about popular quizzes like the COGIATI, then they are only as accurate as one is honest. However, the COGIATI is only written for the Male to Female (transwoman), not Female to Males (transmen). Also, the COGIATI is not considered "scientific" nor is endorsed by any professional organization.

Such tests may contain things that are considered stereotypes and pseudoscience. For instance, the informal tests asks about things like a preference for wearing dresses, when very few women wear dresses anymore. The tests may also operate on the theory of mental gender, and thus will ask questions about how you do certain tasks or what answer you get if you work a certain problem in your head. There are well-adjusted women who would test in the "masculine" range here.

One interesting gender identity test relies on current social constructs and AI logic. How it works is ask people a number of questions about things that people don't associate by gender. For instance, they ask about 2 neutral colors (blue v. white), what suicide method one might choose, what word of two neutral choices is the most offensive to them (used v. moist), etc. Then it compares the answers you give, predicts your gender based on other people's answers, then asks you for the truth. So, for that test, more women prefer blue over white when compared to men, for instance.

Such tests should be used only as clarification and not as justification. If you don't know how deep your gender conflict is, then such tests can luminate that fact, but they should not be used as an excuse or blamed if one decides on surgery one does not really want or need.
