It's called a "fireman's carry". You pull up the unconscious person by the arm to a seated position while you drape his arm around the back of your neck and going as low as possible to the side of his trunk. Using leg power, you stand and adjust his weight on your shoulders for balance and proceed to safety or medical aid.
Firemans Carry
An ambulance at the least, best if it carries intensive care equipment.

Firemans' Carry
Fireman's
A "fireman's carry" is the recommended method if you can lift and carry the victim. Otherwise an improvised litter if this is practical. Any method is limited by the capabilities of the transporting person.

The proper way is to have two people and use a stretcher. A lift or carry is only done in emergencies.
The victim can't walk and he/she might be heavy. That's why you should use a litter to carry a victim with a sprained ankle.
If the victim is found unconscious, we cannot rule out a head/spinal injury. As such, we use the clamshell to immobilize the patient, then lift them onto a 35A stretcher for exchange with the ambulance.
