KUB = kidney, ureter bladder. It is an xray of the abdomen done standing up. It usually is done to look for an abnormal pattern of bowel gas (suggesting obstruction) or stool (consitpation). It can also suggest a bowel perforation if there is air under the diaphragm and it does show the outlines of some organs such as the liver and spleen. You may also see gallstones or kidney stones. It is a good general screening test but for most specific problems there are better tests.
