Okay, I don't like to disagree with other doctor often, but in this case I must. If your HIDA scan was 9% and you have the abdominal pain you have described the gall bladder is the most likely culprit, and honestly, I have never heard of a HIDA that low and the patient did not have the gall bladder removed when they have symptoms such as yours. Because of this, I have to ask you to get a second opinion from another surgeon, because in most situation, a HIDA scan of 9% will be operated on when there are symptoms present
CPT code 78258 refers to a liver imaging study that involves a hepatobiliary (HIDA) scan with or without the use of a radioactive tracer to assess liver function and biliary system. This procedure is typically used to evaluate conditions such as liver disease, biliary obstruction, or gallbladder function.
