If a patient complained of a stomachache and pointed to the umbilical region as a site of the discomfort which organs located in this region might be the source of the pain?

I'm no ER doctor, but this patient needs one STAT. The umbilicus is (should be) mostly vestigial by the time a patient is born. The pain within the belly-button could indicate a hernia, an anastamosis, or be reflected pain associated with appendicitis. The only "organs" located within range of the belly-button are a couple of blood vessels, and maybe the colon if the pain is originating deep enough. Presumably is the patient considers it to be stomach ache it is fairly deep discomfort. The pain may be due to a problem with the small intestine or possibly the transverse colon unless it is referred pain of course. The organs in the umbilical region that could be the source of pain include the small intestine (obstruction), pancreas (pancreatitis), abdominal aorta (aneurysm), transverse colon (diverticulitis), or a distended urinary bladder.
