myelodysplastic syndrome
Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is often referred to as preleukemia because it can progress to acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in some cases. MDS is a group of disorders where the bone marrow does not produce enough healthy blood cells.
Roald Dahl died November 23, 1990 at the age of 74. He died of Myelodysplastic Syndrome, which is also known as preleukemia.
Myelodysplastic syndrome was the cancerous blood condition which was previously known as preleukemia. With this condition, the bone marrow is unable to produce sufficient amounts of healthy blood cells. Although there is no cure for this condition yet, there are some treatment options available, such as blood transfusions, and medications that increase the production of blood cells.
Myelodyspasia syndrome used to be known as preleukemia. This is a type of disorder involving the bone marrow. Unfortunately most patients with this syndrome will end up with actual leukemia eventually.
