I think your talking about the machine they use outside your body, placed on your chest and it shows a picture of your heart on a screen? This would be called an Ultrasonagraphy machine. The test is nearly always done by a certified ultrasonagrapher who knows how to read what is showing on the screen.

reflecting sound is a phenomenon. Sound reflect when the a sequence of compression and rarefaction hit the wall then wall,s surface particles also vibrate. The vibration of sound(C and R) vibrates and the particle of sound reflected back.If this is hard wall then wall's particles easily push the particle of sound. But when it is a soft body then particles will loosely push back. When a longitudinal sound wave strikes a flat surface, sound is reflected in a coherent manner provided that the dimension of the reflective surface is large compared to the wavelength of the sound. Note that audible sound has a very wide frequency range (from 20 to about 17000 Hz), and thus a very wide range of wavelengths (from about 20 mm to 17 m). .Reflection is responsible for many interesting phenomena. Echoes are the sound of your own voice reflecting back to your ears. The sound you hear ringing in an auditorium after the band has stopped playing is caused by reflection off the walls and other objects.
