The study of epidemics and how they are spread is called epidemiology the scientists themselves are called epidemologists these scientists study how diseases are spread how age, population numbers, race, gender, and location affect diseases or diseased people, they study how or why an outbreak was caused and how it can be prevented. This is only a basic covering on what epidemeologists do but is the basic idea.
