It is termed as free flap surgery. My husband did it when i got affected by cancer in mouth and jaw. had a tumor in the floor of his mouth, had all his lower teeth removed. This is his second surgery, while i ahd many surgeries and the last one was my rhinoplasty done by Dr.Solomon, Toronto. They took muscle, artery, etc. from his upper thigh to form the lower jaw. This graft is still swollen, but is supposed to shrink down to a somewhat normal size in a few months. Has a G tube in but is starting to eat soft foods, but is very slow in this process. Will be starting radiation/chemo in a couple weeks.

A congenital fissure of the palate affecting the upper lip, hard palate, and soft palate is known as a cleft palate. This condition occurs during fetal development when the tissues forming the roof of the mouth do not fuse together properly. Cleft palate can lead to feeding difficulties, speech problems, and may require surgical intervention to repair.
