Many were re-united, some never were because their families were re-located or even killed in air raids.

The children could take one small suitcase with warm clothes, a toy, book, photo of family and they wore their coat and boots. They had to take clothes appropriate for the countryside.
The evacuees had absolutely no say at all in where they went, unless they had relatives living in one of the 'safe' areas. They were basically herded into the trains and sent off, with no idea where they were going at all. Their parents would have had no idea either until they got a letter from their child. Once they got to the village in which they were staying, they were taken to the village hall or school and were made to stand around the edge of it. It was then the villagers duty to come and choose as many children as they had spare beds. If there was not enough room for all of the children, then a billeter would take any remaining children around the village in case someone hadn't come to collect a child whenm they had a spare bed or to see if someone was willing to let the child squeeze into their house for a day or two until someone had been found who could take them in. Hope this helps!
some were treated great they went to rich houses and tried things they have never had but some were treated badly they used as servant's and were made to do all the chores they never got fed they still all went to school and church

The children who were evacuated were children who lived in cities being bombed by the Nazis. They were taken to the countryside were it was safe. They went with either their mothers or teachers to stay in homes of people generous enough to take them in and care for them. Most of them went to farms.

Children were evacuated in the war because they people thought they would be safer evacuated than in their city home. And in advance the people also thought that if they was another war then there would be plenty of men to fight. Think of it as ' Preserving children for the future '
they have to take there identity card to show what they look like and what there name is and so that the billeting officer knows where they come from and where they are getting evacuated.
