Engraving upon an animals horn can be associated with "Scrimshaw", an art performed by whalemen during leisure moments aboard their whaling ships. They carved model ships (or other items of interest) on ivory. Begin researching "scrimshaw."
The US joined the Vietnam War in 1960 or 1955because there was a civil war between North Vietnam and South Vietnam, and the US was good friends with South Vietnam's goverment, so they helped out.
The Vietnam War took place from November 1955 to April 1975. It was a war between North Vietnam and South Vietnam.

During WWII and Vietnam. Yes, during WWII and the Vietnam War, but to be more general, the military draft is used whenever the U.S. does not have enough voluntary recruits (meaning, when there are not enough volunteers). So, it could be argued that the military draft is used to "force" people into the army to defend their country. It has not been employed since the early 1970's.

Generally, a Vietnam era veteran is considered anyone who served in the military between 1964-1975. There are, however, some nuances in the case of Vietnam War veterans, who served in country during the war. They can date back to the late 1950s and early 1960s, when the US had advisers in Vietnam; also, while there were only few in Vietnam at this time, some US servicemen who served in 1974-1975 would be considered Vietnam veterans (I.e. marines present at the Fall of Saigon and US Navy sailors who aided in evacuating Saigon).
All US nickels minted since early 1938 have carried a portrait of President Thomas Jefferson. Nickels minted from 1913 to early 1938 are called either buffalo nickels or Indian head nickels - they show the entire buffalo, not just its head.
