How did isolationism contribute to the march of aggression?

In the era preceding World War II, the isolationism of various Western nations contributed to the "march of aggression" by nations such as Italy and Germany, among others. The isolationism of the United States, in particular, was an important element in the confident moves of the Axis powers, as they reasoned (for the most part, correctly) that unless they directly threatened America it would not choose to become involved in any overseas war.

Can war be prevented?

No, because war is that special thing that make us special, and is what make us better than animals. Alternatively, there are certainly ways by which nations or factions within nations can attempt to peacefully resolve their disputes with eachother. People can make compromises and can be considerate of the concerns of others. For example, even the bitterest of enemies, the Palestinians and Israelis, were able to sign the Oslo Peace Accord; the fact that they have both violated that accord doesn't mean that it would have been impossible to make it work. It can be made to work if the people involved are truly committed to making it work. The United Nations was supposed to prevent war, although it has obviously failed to do so, but that doesn't mean that we might not be able to make the United Nations more effective in the future. War is, after all, something that people choose to engage in, therefore people could also choose differently.

How did the cold war begin and what weapons were used in that war?

The Cold War began when the Iron Curtain came down in Eastern Europe, as the Soviet Union made so many countries "Soviet satellites". The United States wanted all European countries to have the freedom to choose their own governments. Then the Soviet Union successfully developed their own atom bomb. The war of words between the two nations escalated. The words were the "weapons". No shooting. A "cold" war, not a "hot" (active, shooting) war.

This is a puzzling question, and I'm left guessing what you mean. When and how might America have had the opportunity or desire to 'choose Germany's fate'? Are you, perhaps, thinking of the Treaty of Versailles (1919)?
