The dissolution of the USSR was a completely peaceful process. Gorbachev held a referendum, in each of the 16 Soviet republics, asking if the citizens would like their republic to remain a part of the USSR or if they would prefer it to be an independent nation. The result was that all 16 republics, including Russia itself, voted that they would rather leave the USSR. As a result, the USSR was dissolved. Not a single shot was fired. It was a remarkable exercise in democracy, in a nation that had been utterly undemocratic in its previous history.
The Korean War and the Vietnam War were both results of communist aggression. Both the Korean War and the Vietnam Wars were Cold War proxy wars, but to assume that they were the only two proxy wars is a very America-centric view. The Soviet-Afghan War is another one along with countless revolutions.
The League of Nations was formed after WW1 (1919) to settle international disputes peacefully, to help prevent future wars and maintain lasting peace.
