The M1 Garand wasa government issued rifleof the United States during WWII and into the 1950's and very early 1960's. It was followed by the M14.The M14 was then followed by the M16. Very strange, when I went through Marine Corps boot camp at Parris Island they issued the M 14, however, when I went to Camp Geiger for Advance Infantry Training they issued the M1 Garand. When I finished the training I was assigned to the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune NC where I was once again issued the M14. All this ocurred in 1966.
It's made to teach you how to learn and be adaptable and to get you prepared for military life. If you cant be disciplined, you wont do very well in any MOS. Marine Corps boot camp is made to break you and build you back up into a confident individual. after boot camp you will attend the school of the MOS you chose and after completion of that school you would attend the school of infantry because the Marine Corps beleives every man is a rifleman. boot camp wont teach you how to do infantry tactics. but like the message below says, they teach you the BASICS so you cant get started. To learn the basics of being an infantryman. The infantry is the "base" of the US Army. All other branches (MOS's) are designed to support the infantry: Armor provides shock action, Artillery provides firepower, Aviation provides support, transportation & firepower, Military Policemen provide security, Engineers provide support, etc. it smacks the civilian out of you and puts military discipline in you. they break you then remold you into a soilder.
John Philip Souza didn't invent anything, but his father invented the fraudulent enlistment. When Souza was thirteen years old, his father got him enlisted in the Marine Corps so he wouldn't join a circus band. Boot Camp is bad enough when you're 18--can you imagine doing it at the age of 13?
Facts:The Army is the largest and the strongest. The US Army trains many branches of the Military. Army trains the Marines in Artillery, HALO school, Ranger school (which is required to be a Recon Ranger in the Marines), etc..Opinion:"The Marine Corps is the most powerful and the strongest branch of the military. The training that the recruits endure during their 3 month boot camp or basic is more intense than all the other branches. For starters the Marines Basic is 3 months long, the Army's is 9 weeks long, the Navy is also 9 weeks long, and the Air Force is 6 weeks long. The PFT (physical fitness test) fir the Marines is with a 3 mile run the Army has a 2 mile run and the Navy & Air Force both have a 1.5 mile run."--this was the last answer, but I think that I may need to clarify slightly. If your question is in regards to numbers, than the Army for sure. If it is in regards to the highest technology, that is very hard t say--the Air Force and Navy have a lot of cool stuff, but so does the Army. If your question is about the individual soldier, then I would have to agree with the above answer--Marines all the way. This question is really hard to answer, because you were not really specific about it. ButI hope this clarifies things up for you.Answer:It is only a matter of opinion which branch is tougher than the others, not because the of length of Basic Training or Boot Camp. What exercises you have to do on the Physical Fitness Test hold no impact on the toughness of a specific branch. I will say that the Marine Corps is by far more disciplined than any other branch, but in my opinion that is based upon their brain washing and single minded thought process, where all other branches allow individuals to think individually. What is easy for one person is hard for another, the only differences in Army Basic and Marine Corps Boot Camp is the swimming portion (being that the Marine Corps falls under the Department of the Navy and will most likely be stationed at some point on a Navy ship) and that each person attends and is expected to complete Infantry school (just in case you fail the job training the Marine Corps chooses for you you can always be an Infantryman). From there it is only a matter of opinion. Another thought is that some if not most Marine Corps job training is conducted at either an Army Base or with Army Soldiers. Again it is only a matter of opinion and there is no true test or competition that has ever taken place to determine who is tougher, stronger, smarter we are all Americans who stood up and answered the call to serve the greatest nation in the world when so many others were to afraid to do so.
Marine Corps recruits should take around $20, their photo identification and nothing more with them to boot camp.
Unfortunately, not much. My college transferred only 3 credits for Marine Corps boot camp.
Marine Corps Boot Camp lasts for 13 weeks.
Marine Corps Boot Camp is a thirteen week ordeal.
Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC.

MARINE CORPS ORDER P1070.12K W/CH 7 Not in garrison unless directed by your CO Cpl Hughes USMC
There is only one true way out of Marine Corps Boot Camp. That is to walk across the parade deck with your head held high, and graduate a Marine. Otherwise there are consequences to deal with. i.e. Other Then Honorable Discharges, or General Under Honorable Conditions.
That depends on what service you join. The Marine Corps is approx 13 weeks.
No, you don't. If you go through Marine Corps Bootcamp, and you get out. You don't have to go through any other services Basic Training. But if you were to get out of any other branch and join the Marines, you would have to go through Marine Corps bootcamp.
It is the day before graduation and includes an on base liberty with visiting family members from late morning until early evenig.
