As of my last knowledge update in October 2023, there have been approximately 230 F-16 Fighting Falcons that have crashed since the aircraft entered service in the late 1970s. The reasons for these crashes vary, including pilot error, mechanical failures, and accidents during training or operational missions. The F-16 remains a widely used multirole fighter, and efforts continue to improve safety and reduce accidents. For the most current statistics, it's advisable to consult recent military reports or databases.
Originally there were 21 but 1 crashed on takeoff. So to this day there are 20 costing around $2.1 billion each.
