The six assassins caught by Austria-Hungary were tried and convicted of treason. The leader, Danilo Ilić, was hanged. The remaining assassins in custody were not yet twenty years old at the time of the assassination and so were given prison terms.

Serbia was to be blamed. Even though Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by a terrorist group of Serbia working separately from the government, they were still aided by a high ranking government offical, and the government should be able to control what goes on among themselves and in their country. They should be able to prevent corruption. franz Ferdinand was assassinated by gavrilo princip, who was part of the black hand gang(a terrorist group of Serbia) that all tried to assassinate franz Ferdinand.
count harrak (sorry, i dont know how to spell it) watch '12 days that shook the world, the assassination of franz ferdinand' on youtube, it has all the answers
Franz Ferdinand never reigned. His father's brother, Franz Joseph, was the Emperor for sixty-eight years. The Emperor's only son, the cousin of Franz Ferdinand, committed suicide when the Emperor refused him permission to marry the girl he loved (see the movie "Mayerling"). With that suicide the old Emperor had no heir, and tried to make his brother, Franz Ferdinand's father, the heir to the throne, but the brother did not want it. So that left Franz Ferdinand to be the heir to the throne when his old uncle might die, but he just lived on and on and on. Franz Ferdinand was heir for more than fifteen years, but when he was murdered his uncle was still alive. The old Emperor outlived Franz Ferdinand by two years, dying in 1916.
Two on the same day. The second one worked.
It was WW1 that started because of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. He was in his car on a parade with his wife Sophie in Bosnia when Gavrilo Princip and the members of the black- hand gang tried to shot him. The story goes that Gavrilo went to get a cheese sandwich and the car that the archduke was driving in took a wrong turning down the street where Gavrilo was having his sandwich he took out his gun and shot Franz and his wife. Serbia Austria - Hungary's enemy) supplied the black hand gang with the weapons and they started a war and because of the alliances with the other countries WW1 happened.

Yes. A man tried to blow him up, but when he threw the bomb, he missed the car. Then, on the same day, the car with Franz Ferdinand in was revercing up a side street, and the man who wanted to kill him was in a cafe along the side street, So he went outside, and shot him.
Serbia didn't join WWI. It was the first country attacked. Attacked by Austria Hungary. REASON: Austria Hungary was always trying to expand and downwards was the easiest and Serbia was "downwards". In order to gain Serbia's land, Austria Hungary gave an ultimatum to Serbia that was so absurd and ridiculous that Serbia wouldn't be able to fulfill it and TA-DA! WAR! Actually the beginning of WWI to be exact. Actually it wasn't just "TA-DA" and there was war. Before war broke out Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria/Hungary went to Serbia to appear during a Serbian parade. This is when the terrorist organization "The Black Hand" attempted to kill Franz Ferdinand. Two of the nine assassins attempted to shoot Ferdinand, but both missed. Then a driver was told to escort Franz Ferdinand out of Serbia staying only on the main roads. The driver did so but accidentally turned into an alley thinking it was a main road. He immediately tried to reverse as soon as he realized it was an alley, but this immediate attempt to reverse caused the car to stall. Meanwhile a man named Gavrilo Princip was eating at a sandwich shop on the corner of the alley where Franz Ferdinand's car had stalled. Gavrilo Princip was part of "The Black Hand". He saw his opportunity and ran outside and fired two shots. The first hit Franz Ferdinand in the neck, and the second hit Ferdinand's wife in the stomach. They both died on the way to the hospital. This assassination is what started the war. Not "TA-DA"

The assassination triggered the "July Crisis". Basically, Germany and Russia tried to negotiate to prevent a war starting; the negotiations lasted for most of July 1914. When the negotiations failed, World War I started.
