Civil War is a war within the same country, an example of this is when the Confederate states fought the Union the main reason behind it was the issue of slavery but President Abraham Lincoln said that he was trying to keep the union together. In a regular war or a war, this is between two or more countries sometimes having two factions in the case of World War 2 with the Axis and Allied powers.
