In 1942, Secretary of War Henry Stimson declared most of the West Coast a military zone due to fears of espionage and sabotage following the attack on Pearl Harbor. As a result, he ordered the evacuation of all individuals of Japanese ancestry, regardless of citizenship, to internment camps located inland. This led to the forced relocation of approximately 120,000 Japanese Americans, many of whom lost their homes and businesses during this unjust internment period.
