Not at all.

The "Nazi" political party (Deutsche Arbeiterpartei,later Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei) was created in 1919, after WW1, and nazism as an ideology didn't become important until the 1930s. Therefore, there is no reason at all why German soldiers should be called Nazis during WW1 (the French called them Bosche for some reason though). However, during WW2, many soldiers referred to Germans as "Nazis" in a derogatorily way even though not all Germans were true Nazis.

No. The term "Nazi" referred to a political party in Germany between the years 1933 and 1945. This was a political party no different from the Conservatives, Democrats or Republicans of other nations, except that it was, for the most part, run by a fanatical, hubristic sociopath, Adolp Hitler, who led the party and the country to its eventual ruin in 1945.

Nazi is short for National Socialist Party. If you belonged to Hitler's political party, you were a Nazi. Not all German soldiers and quite frankly most were not members of the party. But, they did have to swear an allegiance to Hitler. You can say they were Nazi soldiers but not all German soldiers were Officially members of the party.

NAZI was the chosen acronym of the NAtional Socialist Party. I liked it. But it's defunct now in Germany though it seems to be rising in the USA. It's a kind of fascism which gives the oligarchs and corporations too much say in the running of the nation. Right now, the Germans aren't Nazi's, the Americans are.
