Right. Hope this will help
Tanks.
The tank was first used at the little known Battle of Flers. It was then used with less success at the Battle of the Somme.

Aeroplanes and Dirigibles.
The use of aircraft changed the whole art and science of warfare. The great conquest of the air was first by the dirigible balloon and then by the aeroplane.

Poison Gas.
Poison gas was probably the most feared of all weapons in World War One. Poison gas was indiscriminate and could be used on the trenches even when no attack was going on.

The Vickers machine gun.
The Vickers machine gun was the standard issue machine gun for the British Army in World War One. The Vickers was formally introduced to the British Army in 1912 and quickly saw use in the war.

The two that immediately jump to mind are the tank and the airplane. Of course the airplane had been around since 1901 but, during WW1 it took on new jobs, first as reconnaissance to direct artillery, then as fighter to shoot down the reconnaissance planes and finally as bomber.

The tank was a desperation invention, WW1 was fought in trenches with areas in between them called, "No man's land", as they were covered with barbed wire and while you were trying to cut the barbed wire or get unstuck from it, the enemy was killing you. The British came up with the idea of putting armor on a caterpillar tractor. The project was so secret that when asked what they were building they were told to reply, "Water tanks". Tanks allowed troops to follow in relative safety and get into the other sides trenches.

Poison gas is probably one of the nastiest weapons of WW1, natural agents like chlorine, which is highly reactive with water, were used to burn the lungs of the enemy. Mustard gas, a blistering agent could kill by blistering any part of the body it came into contact with, causing dehydration or getting into the lungs and causing the person do drown in their own water.

This was the first war to make use of fully automatic weapons. They started with large crew serve weapons that were water cooled but, by the end of the war lighter automatic weapons had been invented and in the last days of WW1 John Thompson had created the sub-machine gun.

Finally the one that almost everyone knows about but, doesn't. Dynamite was created in the late 1800's by Alfred Noble and came to the fore in WW1 making blasting and mines much more effective. Noble foresaw the awful potential for death when his brother was killed in the laboratory and endowed the Noble prizes.
