The Confederate southern states were; South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Virginia, Arkansas, Tennessee and North Carolina. It is interesting to note that both Delaware and Maryland remained in the Union and both were slave States.
