Yes. Near war's end on September 28, 1918, a wounded Lance Corporal Hitler, withdrawing from the French village of Marcoing, was in the rifle sights of British Pvt. Henry Tandey, who "didn't have the heart to shoot a wounded man". In later years, both Hitler and Tandey were fully aware of each other's identity.

Yes, Hitler was heavily wounded in the First World War. A British soldier found the injured Hitler. However out of politeness, the British soldier spared his life instead of finishing him off. This helped Hitler develop Anglophilia - the love of Britain and British people.

If the British soldier had killed Hitler while he was injured, the Second World War could have been avoided. In fact at some point, Hitler did try to form an alliance with Britain because he wanted them on his side, but Britain of course declined.
