there in a better place
Island hopping benefit was the ability to pick and choose the battle. They went to one island and bombed it and went to the next one. The three Island that was captured by the U.S was Philippines, Okinawa, and Iwo Jima. -Hope this Helps!(^.=)~
The mission of the Japanese Navy was to take Midway Island, to be used as a re-supply base. This mission was intercepted by US Naval forces, resulting in the "Battle of Midway."
The sea lion you are probably referring to is Operation Sea Lion. Operation Sea Lion was the German plan to invade the island of Great Britian. The plan was an amphibious invasion after the Luftwaffe, the German Air Force, had bombed the British into submission. But the bombing campaign failed and Operation Sea Lion never happened.
the Alaskan island of kiska was captured by the Japanese and was latter taken by the U.S. and Canada
Was sunk at Ford island at pearl harber
NO.
There was an Island called 'Croker Island' which was run by the Uniting Church from about 1941 until the 1970's, in which part Aboriginal children were placed to be assimilated into the white culture. My grandmother was 4 years old girl when she was placed on the Island in during the war. The children were left on the island for at least 2 months after Darwin had been bombed...there was no 'Drover' to come and rescue them!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Bathurst Island was most likely the one they had in mind when referring to a mission island in 'Australia'. You can find information about it here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bathurst_Island_(Northern_Territory)

Pearl harbor was bombed by Japan on December 7, 1941 about 8 "O-clock" A.M. at the Naval base on Ford island, Hawaii.
Pearl harbor was the main one, but mostly the whole island was bombed
There are accounts of Japanese fighters seen close to Bathurst Island, north of Darwin. There was a Catholic mission on that island. There was also a radio station. I wonder if this is "Mission Island"; what is clear is that the government had a policy in effect to remove aboriginal children from their parents. the mission is on spy island
What are you talking about? There is spy island, where you are a spy and are on a mission, but you cannot "make your own mission".
You need to define this question more precisely to get a good answer. America first bombed Japan in April of 1942, known as the "Doolittle Raid". Then America bombed Japan as soon as they had island hopping-off points for the heavy bombers, mostly with incendiaries, as the plan of General Curtis ("Bombs Away") LeMay. The USA also bombed Japan twice with nuclear weapons. In every case, "what happened after" is different. Ask again more specifically, and get a more specific answer.
Mission House - Mackinac Island - was created in 1825.
It was the island of Bali.
