One of the Civil War's causes is the fact that there are many sides that both wanted the country to develop by its design (Eg: the Northerners wanted the central bank to exist while the Southerners opposed it ). And about slavery, the Southerners wanted many slave states to increase the slave number so that their kind of economic which based much on labor force will be promoted while the Northers just wanted to develop the middle class to trade together so therfore rising their industrialized economic.
I think if you check your history, it started over states' rights then slavery was tacked on in January of 1863 in the form of the Emancipation Proculamation.
Slavery was not the major issue, States rights was the issue. The right of a state to govern itself without a massive federal government controling them.
A reason that is NOT for the Civil War is to get more land.
**Daniel Webster**
the civil war stoped slaverylaws, slavery, and more
The Civil War political cause is based on beyond the official stance, what was the real political reason for the Civil War. The Democrats, by then known as the Slave Party, believed that slavery was protected by the Constitution, and that northerners were determined to end slavery and destroy the system they had grown wealthy with. The Republicans were former Whigs, to whom the abolition of slavery was important enough for them to split from the Whigs to form a party that would have this issue as its main focus. Lincoln, a Republican, was much more ambivalent about the issue of slavery than many of his more radical brethren. His main concern was keeping the Union intact.
A reformer who favors abolishing slavery is called an Abolitionist. Frederick Douglas, a former slave, William Lloyd Garrison, John Brown, and Harriet Tubman are among the more famous abolitionists in American history.
The civil war was fought because of slavery. North=No Slavery South=More Slavery
Yes.
Daniel Webster thought that saving the Union was more important than ending slavery. Webster was a senator from Massachusetts.
A reason that is NOT for the Civil War is to get more land.
North because they won! North had more reasons to STOP slavery then south keeping slavery.

the south wanted more individual state rights, some wanted slavery, and some wanted to secede. But slavery wasn't the main reason for the civil war
The platform was based, in part, on the promise of ending slavery. The politics of 1860 were explosive and the election of the first Republican president pushed the divide between the North and South leading to the Civil War. Since then, the Republicans have done more for civil rights than the Democrats, believe it or not. Do some research, especially on Eisenhower and Nixon.
Slavery was more important to the South than it was to the North, because the South's economy relied on agriculture.
