Effects of the Kent State shootings?

The shooting at Kent State on May 4, 1970 occurred as armed National Guard troops fired on a crowd of student anti-war demonstrators. Four students were killed and nine were wounded. There had been violent confrontations between the Guard and the students, and the Guard was attempting to disperse the demonstrators. When a small group of soldiers faced a much larger crowd of students, they fired into the crowd. Although the federal proceedings against guardsmen and authorities were concluded in 1974, an audio tape analyzed in 2010 provided additional information, and could potentially result in further proceedings on a state level. However, double jeopardy and the passage of 40 years make this unlikely.

What was the major development in Africa after world war 2?

Many people would say that the British stand at El Alamein is one. Others would say that Operation Torch would be another. And to a degree I would agree, but one of the most overlooked impact was Malta. The supply situation to Rommel's DAK was always bad. If they had ever implemented Operation Hercules (the planned airborne assualt of Malta), this island aircraft carrier would have become a safe haven for Axis shipping and an air base for Axis air. This would also have forced the British to launch operations from Alexandria or Gibraltar. The added time would have been more wear and tear on the British ships and further drain on supplies. But the first two mentioned items were very big turning points for the Axis situation in Afrika. If Rommel had managed to penetrate the British defenses at El Alamein, then the road to Cairo and the Suez would have been open. The British would have had to fall back to the Suez canal for the next defensible terrain feature. This would have yielded Egypt to the Axis, closed the Suez canal and forced supply routes around South Africa. And also remember the majority of Lend Lease to the Soviet Union went thru Iraq. If the Axis had succeeded here, then this major supply route would have been in serious jeopardy
