The vast majority of vehicular land mines were factory built in Communist China (referred to as "Chicom" (meaning Chinese Communist) grenades, rifles, mines, etc.) and simply sent across the border via truck. They were metallic in construction, roughly 15" across and about 4" tall; and extremely powerful. One such mine could shatter a solid rock (boulder) that was the size of a common full sized pick-up truck.
These mines normally just blew one to two sets of road wheels off of the standard US Army M48 Patton tank (a 52 ton tank). However, the same mine would completely destroy an ACAV or Sheridan light tank, by igniting fires and explosions within the armored vehicles.
The rest were imported from the US.
Yes, they made things go BOOM
The Mustang was not deployed in Vietnam. It was used in the Korean war.
Both sides - the Allies (Britain, USA, Australia, New Zealand, India, etc) and the Axis (Germany, Italy, Japan). They were used on land at at sea. Mines are laid and recovered at sea by warships called mine sweepers.
they were used to spark protest against America's involvement in the Vietnam War
no but it was almost in Vietnam
Toe poppers and bouncing Betties are slang terms used in the war in Vietnam. Toe poppers are land mines and bouncing Betties are grenades.
Mines were the scourge of the Vietnam War. It seemed like everyone and everything was hitting them. Grunts where stepping on "bouncing Bettys", tanks were running over Soviet supplied anti-tank mines, and the US Navy's Swift Boats were getting blasted out of the rivers by floating mines. Land mines, riverine mines, and booby traps (un-conventional type and/or placement) were the bane of the Vietnam war. Once you or your tank hit one, "you got mined."

Land mines have been used in numerous wars throughout history. Some notable examples include their extensive use in World War II, particularly in the European and Pacific theaters. They were used during the Vietnam War, the Korean War, the Iran-Iraq War, the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as various civil wars and insurgencies around the world.
Nuclear weapons were not used in the Vietnam War.
Traps used in World War I included land mines and wire based obstacles. Also, trenches were dug to prevent troops from crossing large areas of land quickly.

US war dogs (approximately 5,000-officially designated as military working dogs) and about 10,000 US servicemen served as "dog handlers" during the Vietnam War. In addition, the US Navy used dolphines to search for sea mines (anti-ship explosives) in the harbors of South Vietnam during the war.
There were many types of mines used in World War Two. Magnetic mines were some of them.
