War tends to be one of the main ones, because while the men are all away fighting, the women take over the better jobs that were previously held by men, and, although they are never paid as much for the same work, it is still an improvement to the quality of their lives and freedom to be out in the world doing things that were previously denied them.
Umm well... i don't know about the Cold War but in WW1 and WW2 it gave women more freedom and the right to be more equal like men, even though the pay wasn't the same. A woman could be doing the same job as a man but yet be paid less than him because she presumably wasn't skilled enough. The disadvantages were that men weren't happy in the WW1 the most of women taking over mens jobs so they would basically make it harder for the women to do their jobs properly and do things like hammer their nail draws so they couldn't open them and get on with their job.
Women had to pick up the slack that the men left behind. When they went off to war, many jobs were left unattended. Women picked up the jobs and duties of men, in short. They did factory jobs, cut their rations, grew crops, and became fathers for children. Women were also accepted into the military as support staff. Front line women were still not allowed. Women gained recognition of skill, endurance, and importance.
Due to the devastating loss of nearly a generation of men during the First World War, women were forced to step outside of the traditional feminine roles of the times. Women joined the military and served as caregivers and nurses. They worked the essential jobs that needed to done despite their male workers absence and kept AmericaÃ?s transportation systems running. . The willingness of these women to keep the country going helped to push ahead the 19th amendment that gave finally gave women the right to vote.
After the civil war, the Republican Parties actions were more favorable to the freed African-Americans. They wanted to give equal rights to all the freedmen.
