Duke of Cumberland's Regiment of Light Dragoons ended in 1749.

Light brigade weapon?

The British light cavalry carried the Lance & Sabre. I am unsure if the carbine was also carried, probably not. I assume the Q refers to Balaclava in 1854. Officers of Lancers, Light Dragoons and Hussars carried the Pattern 1822 Light Cavalry Officer's Sword. Other Ranks were issued with the Pattern 1821 Light Cavalry Sword. It is also possible that some troopers carried the newly issued Pattern 1853 Cavalry Sword. Other Ranks of Hussars and Light Dragoons had Model 1842 "Victoria" Carbines and Lancers a 9-foot-long ash hafted lance. Lancers had Pattern 1842 pistols as did Sergeants Major of Light Dragoons and Hussars. There was also a smattering of Model 1851 Colt Navy Revolvers, Deane Adams and Deane revolvers and other non-regulation arms, usually carried by officers.

What do call soilders on horseback?

People who fight from horseback were called 'Cavalry.' This is a term descended from 'chivalry' when knights fought on horseback. Infantry who used horses as rapid transportation but fought on foot were called 'dragoons.' In Europe the terms have carried over - with tank crews inheriting the term 'cavalry' and mechanized infantry inheriting the term 'dragoons.' US practice differs however. In the US, the traditional fighting from horseback was obsolete by the time we began forming our first cavalry units so the term was inherited to a special force of dragoons who specialized in raids, scouting and long range patrols. The term 'the cavalry has arrived' came from the folklore of the old west when isolated towns and homesteads would have to hold out against indian raids until the local army fort sent a relief column (typically cavalry).

What was the Pulaska Cavalry Brigade?

I think what you are looking for is the Pulaski Calvary Brigade. During the Revolutionary war, Washington noted the effectivness of the British Dragoon regiments and the fear they generated on the battlefield. In 1777, Washington formed the Continental Light Dragoons and the training of these troops fell to a man called the Count Casimir Pulaski. The compliment of a brigade was 280 men to a troop with a total of six troops. To take it a step further. Due to issues with the Count and other American officers, Congress permited Pulaski to form his own unit. This became known as the Pulaski Legion. This was comprised of Calvary (Dragoons), Riflemen and Grenadiers.
