war can change a person in many ways but the 2 most important are if you are on the front lines you will be able to see things that a person shouldn't witness and this can lead to depression, drinking and being scarred when you go home. Waking up in the middle of the night having nightmares or having delusions of people trying to kill you....... But the good things that resolve are Collage Degrees for Engineering Medical, Leadership...etc.

Primarily for US Marines & US Soldiers, then broken down primarily to the "Infantrymen" (known as a "Grunt" in the Vietnam War); war makes men appreciate a clear glass of water, since all he drank for a year, or more, was urine looking, warm or hot water with insects & micro matter in it. He appreciates a bed, because he slept on the ground for a year or more, in the mud, in the dirt, in creek beds, on rocks, in bushes, with snakes, scorpions, and a variety of other unknown types of Spiders and mosquitos. Not to mention rats by the dozens. He appreciates sleeping in peace; rather than worrying if "his throat's gonna be slit that night", "or will he be shot in his sleep?", or "just blown up?" He appreciates friends, because tomorrow, he will be missing some. He appreciates food; because he lived like an animal eating anything he could get his hands on...and almost always ate it cold. He appreciates blue skys, and white clouds, and green meadows, and clear running streams, and colorful flowers, because he's outlived his dead buddies by another day, and they can't see those things...anymore. Life has a flavor, the protected will never know.
