Armistice Day, as it is usually referred to, was the day when both parties decided that they would stop fighting. This armistice went into effect "on the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month" (November 11, 1918). Many people celebrate this day in remembrance of the veterans who fought in the war for our freedom. You probably know this day as Remembrance Day.
