the last day of the first world war was as futile as any otherday. Although the armistice was signed at 1100 hours, the fact that the ceasefire was going to happen was know about for hours before. Men were still sent over the top to certain death up to 5 minutes before the cease fire, it is estimated that up to 1000 british troops died on the last morning. I have in fact written a play based on the last day of the first world war that is soon to be published
