The National Response Center (NRC) is the government's mechanism to report spills of oils, chemicals or other hazardous materials or pollutants that pose a threat to the environment.
The National Response Framework
The Air Force Incident Management System (AFIMS) incorporates policies and doctrine from various sources, primarily aligning with Air Force Instruction (AFI) 10-2501, which covers the Air Force Emergency Management program. It also adheres to the National Response Framework (NRF) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS), ensuring a coordinated response to incidents. Additionally, AFIMS aligns with Department of Defense (DoD) directives and guidance related to incident management and emergency response.
National highway system
The National Bank Act of 1863 resurrected the Hamiltonian idea of a national banking system. It established a national currency and permitted the creation of a network of national banks. As an aside, President Andrew Jackson had abolished the National Bank in 1833 by removing all government funds and refusing to issue a new charter for it.
The National Defense Authorization Act of 1986 included provisions to maintain the Selective Service System, which requires male citizens and residents of the U.S. to register for potential military conscription. It reaffirmed the necessity of the registration process and emphasized the importance of having a ready pool of individuals available in case of a national emergency. The Act did not reinstate the draft but ensured the system remained operational.
