Members of the Gestapo didn't normally wear uniforms, unless they were operating in operational areas where wearing an uniform afforded protection to the wearer. In such circumstances, members of the Gestapo wore SS uniforms with a blank right collar patch, an SD sleeve diamond, and police shoulder straps to indicate their rank.

The 7th Armoured Division, aka "Desert Rats", wore a patch that was a BLACK square with a RED rat with a long tail. There was also a Brigade that wore a similar patch with a GREEN desert rat image. The square RED patch with a silouette of a BLACK cat is the patch for the 56th 'North London' Infantry Division. I think this is the patch that you refer to. The wing patch is placed 1/2 inch below the seam centered on the left shoulder on the BDU uniform. On the flight suit, it is attached with velcro in the same position as the BDU's. Please note that the wing patch is no longer authorized for wear on the Air Force blue uniform. It depends on the agency's or department's unifiorm regulations. Some wear a patch on their shoulder - some on the chest - still others wear the flag as a pin on their uniform or attached to their nametag - some others do not wear it at all. .
