Sherman's March, from Atlanta to Savannah, took place over about six weeks in the Autumn of 1864. It was not just a single day's event.
D-day was June 6th 1944 and the time when the first troops hit the beach was around 6 in the morning.

he Bataan Death March began at Mariveles on April 10, 1942, the day after the Americans surrendered. It took the POWs over a week to reach their destination.
