It took place from July 1-27 1942. It was near Al Alamein, which was in the allied-controlled middle east. At first, the axis attacked the fortified area with very small and exhausted forces. The armies were pushed back, and the allies held, but after a large scale allied attack the allies broke through the enemy lines in some areas. But, the allies were then exhausted and retreated. It all turned out to be a stalemate. The second battle of Al Alemain took place from October 23- November 4 1942. The British, under General Montgomery, launched large attacks on the axis, who later wer pushed back out of Egypt and even later out of the Middle east.
