I believe this was a trade name for either ( and possibly both) The American Export Line ( ships) and what is now known as American Airlines. Officers of both lines wore- and may still wear Platinum -edged rank stripes rather than the more usual gold - possibly done to avoid confusion with the Naval Rank stripes,. then again they had this Silver thing. By the way the Flagship diner on Route 22 was often getting into skirmishes with both establishments- on copyright grounds- well both AA and AEL had commissary departments- served food- and there was something of a court fight.
