Rhoald thought life was awful during the war he says in one autobiography that ' I was completely terrified every night when I heard something I used to hide under my bed and pretend it was a dream, but of coarse it was!' He was absolutely horrible to think of going off to get shot or never return. Of coarse his farther went to war so he was scared he would never come back. He used to tell stories to his children when they were little.
